New Mexico Tech has some of the most remarkable thinkers. Please enjoy the journey through our epistemological, ontological, aesthetic, and ethical musings using film as a mode of discovery
The following thoughts are probably really disjointed, but here we go!
ReplyDeleteI've never liked fairy tales, honestly. They've always seemed unrealistic... I've never liked the female characters, since I can't identify with them, and the men are also ridiculous.
Hope is, I think, essential to our existence. Without it, we'd probably give up and die. I think love also gives us a reason to not just stay alive but to try to live our lives to the fullest and to be the best people we can.
I agree with your comment on what it means to be in love-- that's happened a few times to me (not being loved in return), and it hurts, plain and simple. Those instances really did a lot of damage, and made me angry and confused enough to make me act somewhat unlike me for a while. On the other hand, though, having someone remind you of how much you're loved encourages you to learn more, be more creative, etc. At least this is true in my case. I'd have probably ducked out of this world a long time ago if I didn't have anyone who let me know I'm worth loving.
More thoughts to come..

"The more you love, the more you can love — and the more intensely you love. Nor is there any limit on how many you can love. If a person had time enough, he could love all of that majority who are decent and just."
ReplyDeleteRobert Heinlein
and with even more time, maybe we could even love those who are those who are not decent and not just.
ReplyDeleteMaybe.
