Idols of the Marketplace

There has been a lot of debate currently regarding the newly-passed healthcare reform bill. However, the following essay by Washington Weekly's Gwen Ifill points out that most of the debate is based on the nuance of language. I thought it was an interesting read. It's politically neutral, so everyone should be able to read it in peace :p

Enjoy folks!

  1. I found this article interesting. Yet, after looking at it several times I feel like it's essentially rambling language about rambling language. Yes, politicians use rhetoric. I'm not sure there's anything unique about rhetoric and the healthcare reform bill though.

  2. Yes, it is rambling about rambling. However, rambling and language were the topic of class at the time, so I thought it pertinent. I think it's fascinating that people are really using the same ideas over and over. Ms. Ifill didn't point out anything new (politicians are still using rhetoric and always have been) this is just a "real world" example of stuff we were talking about in class.
